Dave brings over 10 years of experience in coaching, training, and business education to direct the Dale Carnegie coaching program. He has a management background in the education industry and a passion for helping individuals become more effective leaders and communicators in the workplace. Dave's clients have rated him as one of the top twenty Dale Carnegie instructors in a global network of over 2,500.
Dave has developed over 500 individuals in the aerospace industry to facilitate performance shifts in their leadership skills, ability to deliver high impact presentations, and the development and growth of strong industry relationships. He has extensively supported leadership training for the Northrop Grumman Corporation in the F-18 Super Hornet and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programs.
He holds a business degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a masters degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University. Dave is also currently a doctoral student in organizational leadership at Pepperdine University. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Vanguard University's School of Business and Management.
Dave is an associate certified coach (ACC) and member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) as well as a member of the Professional Coaches and Mentors Association (PCMA), and the Association for Psychological Type (APT). He also serves as a business advisor to the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter at Vanguard University, providing presentation skills coaching to college students for regional and national competitions.
Dave is a graduate of Coach U and is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the FIRO-B. He is an avid runner and reader and lives in Ladera Ranch, California with his wife, Bonni. Follow Dave on Twitter.

Heather Backstrom
Leadership Coach
Heather has more than 14 years experience collaborating with managers and directors on various human resources and interpersonal matters. She is experienced in coaching, workshop facilitation, instructional design, and problem resolution with both individuals and groups. She has worked in the for-profit, not-for-profit and public sector arenas for large and small organizations.
Heather has been coaching leaders to enhance their leadership capacity resulting in higher levels of performance, job satisfaction and personal fulfillment. She has worked in the fields of health care, financial services, automotive, aerospace, and non-profit.
She is a Certified Personal Co-Active Coach through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), and has earned several certifications including one in Coaching and Mentoring from California State University Long Beach. She also holds certifications from DDI and Achieve Global to train and develop managers in various leadership competencies. She is also a qualified MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) instructor.
As an adjunct faculty member with the University of Redlands, Heather teaches leadership and management courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Heather holds her B.A. in Communications/Public Relations from the University of the Pacific, and a M.S. in Human Resources Management/Development from Chapman University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University.
Heather is a member of the Professional Coaches and Mentors Association (PCMA), International Coach Federation (ICF), and American Society of Training and Development (ASTD).
Philosophically, Heather is a strong advocate of pursuing one’s passion and enjoys coaching others to reach theirs. She values having a career and personal life that are in balance and that intrinsically complement to each other.
